Hired – Dakota Mason, New Associate Coach

The Princeton Posse continue to add to the new look Hockey Operations staff with the hiring of Dakota Mason as the club’s Associate Coach. Dakota will join the newly hired Head Coach Mark Readman behind the bench for the 2021-22 season. “We are thrilled to welcome Dakota to the Posse organization. He has a diverse hockey mind that will no doubt add productive input to our staff and bring the best out of our team.” Said General Manager Mark McNaughton.

Mason, an Edmonton native brings a strong playing background to the Posse organization with a career that included stops in the NAHL, AJHL (2 leagues championships and 1 national championship with the Brooks Bandits) and NCAA. Following his playing career Mason continued to be involved in hockey having worked at the forefront of the video technology and individual skill-based advancements of the game has recently stepped into coaching at the U18 level.

Head Coach Mark Readman spoke to the addition, “Dakota brings a playing background where he not only lived through what it takes to win a championship, but also what it takes to build a championship program. He has not followed a typical coaching path after his playing career but his work on the video and skill side of the game give him great perspective and will be an asset to our players.”

“The opportunity to work with a great organization and great league with people like both Mark’s” declared Mason. “My past experiences as part of successful organizations such as the Brooks Bandits and Plattsburgh State University have taught me what goes into building a successful and sustainable organization and I will try to cultivate it as best I can with the Posses’ program”

Mason will be joining the staff immediately in preparations for the upcoming KIJHL season.
