Matthew Langdon (Princeton Posse), Brandon Spilchen (Golden Rockets) and Connor Stojan (Beaver Valley Nitehawks) have been selected as the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Oct. 27, 24.
Langdon – Top Forward – The Sherwood Park, Alta., native had a tremendous week netting six goals and adding two assists in two games for the Posse. In their 6-2 win over the Kelowna Chiefs on Oct. 25, Langdon scored twice, tying the game at 2-2 and giving them a 4-2 lead. In their 7-2 win over the Sicamous Eagles on Oct. 26, Langdon enjoyed a four-goal performance and scored the winner, while adding two assists. Langdon is now the KIJHL’s points leader with 27 in 13 games and leads the league with 16 goals. Langdon is seven points away from hitting 50 career KIJHL regular season points.
Spilchen – Top Defenceman – The Yorkton, Sask., native had two goals and two assists in three games for the Rockets. In their 5-1 win over the Spokane Braves on Oct. 26, Spilchen assisted on the 4-1 goal scored on the power-play. In their 6-4 loss to the Quesnel River Rush on Oct. 27, Spilchen had two goals and an assist. He assisted on the 1-1 goal, then cut the River Rush’s lead to 4-2 with a goal and then 5-4 with his second of the game. In 12 games, Spilchen has two goals and five points and needs just three points to set a new career high from his rookie season.
Stojan – Top Goalie – The Grande Prairie, Alta., native helped the Nitehawks earn a pair of road wins in Kamloops and Chase. In Kamloops on Oct. 25, Stojan stopped 26 of 29 shots in a 4-3 win. In Chase on Oct. 26, Stojan was a brick wall making 48 saves – 20 in the second period alone – to earn his first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win. While going 2-0, Stojan had a 1.50 goals against average and a .961 save rate. In nine games, Stojan is 7-1-1 with a 2.04 GAA and a .944 SP. Stojan is six wins away from hitting 50 career KIJHL regular season victories.
