KIJHL Power Rankings Week 8 – (Nov. 13)

 

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League completed its eighth week of regular season action for the 2022-23 season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlights the top-five teams based on winning percentage, with various tie-breakers to help decide after.

Revelstoke Grizzlies

Last week: 3

Record: 12-1-2-3

The Grizzlies won three games last week, earning victories against the Sicamous Eagles, 2-0. Jozef Kuchaslo made 28 saves for his second shutout of the season. Then the Grizzlies defeated the Kelowna Chiefs 7-2, led by Luke Aston’s three-point performance. Their final victory was a 2-1 win over Kelowna on the road.

Princeton Posse

Last week: 1

Record 13-3-0-1

The Posse picked up wins over the Osoyoos Coyotes, 3-0 and 100 Mile House Wranglers, 4-0. Against the Coyotes, Ethan Rau made 34 saves for his second shutout of the season, while Nate Glenn made 30 saves against the Wranglers for his first KIJHL shutout.

Kimberley Dynamiters

Last week: Not ranked

Record: 12-4-1-1

The Dynamiters earned three wins last week against the Creston Valley Thunder Cats, 3-1; Grand Forks Border Bruins, 6-0; and the Columbia Valley Rockies 4-1. Trystan Self made 22 saves for his second shutout of the season, while Cam Reid and Cash Regan, each had three points.

Columbia Valley Rockies

Last week: 2

Record: 12-4-0-2

The Columbia Valley Rockies earned three points in their three games last week. They defeated the Fernie Ghostriders 6-4, then lost to the Kimberley Dynamiters 4-1 and lost to the Kamloops Storm, 2-1 in a shootout. Kayde Kinaschuk led the team with three points in three games, all assists, while Anthony Domina had two goals in one game.

Nelson Leafs

Last week: 5

Record: 10-3-2-1

The Leafs picked up a pair of wins against the Beaver Valley Nitehawks, 4-2; and the Summerland Steam, 5-0. Jasper Tait made 22 saves for his first junior hockey shutout. Johnny Carmichael led the Leafs with two goals and four points in two games.
