KIJHL announces its Team of the Week (Week 19)

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce its Team of the Week for the period ending Feb.1.

 

Forwards

Brady Magarrell – Beaver Valley Nitehawks

The Coaldale, Alta., native had a monster offensive weekend with three goals and six assists in two games with a +12 rating. He wasn’t on the ice for a goal against. In their 9-2 win over the Osoyoos Coyotes, he had two goals, including an insurance marker, and three assists. Magarrell followed that performance up with a goal and four points in their 11-4 win over the Nelson Leafs. 

 

Asher Lucas – Williams Lake Mustangs

The hometown product was unstoppable against the Quesnel River Rush with two goals and five assists – setting up the winning goal by Declan Pocock in a 7-3 win. Lucas came within a point of tying a KIJHL record for most points in a game. He was also +7. 

Bryton Morrow – Princeton Posse

The Androssan, Alta., native was a force with two goals and six points in their 9-3 win over the Coyotes. Morrow and linemate Will Bell set up Jace Shuttleworth’s winner on the power-play. He was +4. 

 

Defence

Declan Pocock – Williams Lake Mustangs

The hometown product had three goals and four points in two games. Pocock netted the winner in their 7-3 victory over the River Rush and followed that up by setting up the winner in their 6-0 win over the Kamloops Storm and adding two goals.

Logan McCabe – Grand Forks Border Bruins

The Edmonton native collected four assists in wins over the Nelson Leafs and Spokane Braves. McCabe had three assists in their 10-4 win over the Braves – one setting up Levi Astill’s winner. 

Goalie

Jaxson Dikur – Williams Lake Mustangs

The hometown product earned a pair of wins against the River Rush and Storm, saving 83 of 86 shots for a 1.50 goals against average and a .965 save percentage. He was excellent against the Storm earning a 41-save shutout.
