Blake Sittler of the Princeton Posse has committed to play collegiate hockey for the Minot State Beavers in the American Collegiate Hockey Association this fall.
“It’s pretty sweet, I didn’t really expect to get an offer like this a year early,” said Sittler. “I thought I would play my 20-year-old year and see what happens.”
In 28 games for the Posse this season, Sittler went 22-2-2 with a 2.00 goals against average and a .930 save percentage. He was among the KIJHL’s top goalies. In eight KIJHL Teck Cup playoff games, the Dodsland, Sask. native went 5-3-0 with a stingy 1.26 GAA and a .958 SP.
In his KIJHL career, the 19-year-old played 34 games and was 28-2-0 with a 1.91 GAA and a .932 SP. He played in 11 career KIJHL Teck Cup playoff games and was 11-7 with a 2.05 GAA and a .933 SP.
“The KIJHL was awesome, especially over this last season,” said Sittler. “I gained a lot of confidence and tweaked a lot of details. I built my game a lot and the KIJHL and Princeton were huge with that. I was very thankful to go there.”
Sittler began his junior hockey career in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League with the Yorkton Terriers, playing a game as an affiliate in 2022-23. He then joined the Terriers to start the 2023-24 season. Overall, he went 4-7 with a 4.55 GAA and an .864 SP.
