MacLean is excited to be joining the University of Jamestown

Over the past two seasons the fans in Princeton have gotten used to seeing a tall, animated, and superb goaltender in the Posse net.  Jaysen MacLean was the man between the pipes for seventy-five games over his two seasons with the team but will be wearing new colours when the 2020-21 season begins.  Jaysen committed to ACHA Division 1, University of Jamestown back in October 2019 and is excited to take the next step in his hockey career.

MacLean will become the sixth Posse alumni to play for the Jimmies and is one of two graduating members of the 2019-20 Posse team who will be playing college hockey next season.  “We have always stood behind our older players in their pursuit of becoming collegiate athletes.  There are so many different paths for players out of the KIJHL and the staff in Jamestown have really tapped into this league.” Says Posse Coach Mark McNaughton.

Jaysen will be entering UJ’s health and fitness administration program in the fall and has high expectations for himself both on the ice and in the classroom, saying “I’m excited for the experience, knowing a few guys from the team ahead of time will make it that much better of a college experience.  It is a big step up from junior hockey on the ice and adding a class load, I am ready for the challenge.”

In his time in Princeton Jaysen was a major contributor on and off the ice.  His playing time was capped off by an impressive playoff run (before the season was cut short) posting three wins and no losses with a GAA of 1.68 and save percentage of .950.  Outside of his playing time with the Posse, MacLean worked closely with local minor hockey goaltenders on an almost weekly basis and worked part time for Princeton Community Services.  “Jay was outstanding for us in his time here, he grew into an effective leader and brought his game up to a level that I think will translate well into the college game.  We are proud to call him a Posse alumni going forward.” Adds Mark McNaughton.
