Roster Additions Making an Immediate Impact

Last night’s 3-2 overtime win over the North Okanagan Knights took the Posse’s recent wins to three straight and gave the team their first win on home ice of the season.  The team found their way back into the win column last weekend while on a three-game swing through the East Kootenays beating the Columbia Valley Rockies 2-1 in overtime and the Golden Rockets 3-1 in a gritty Sunday effort with some new faces in the line up.  Prior to last weeks trip Posse GM Mark McNaughton made two roster moves that have made an immediate impact on the team and their record.

The first of these moves was the signing of stand out 2001 Goaltender Carter Woodside from Asquith Saskatchewan.  The second move made was the acquisition of 2001 Forward Josh Olson from the Revelstoke Grizzlies in exchange for 2001 Forward John Lee.  Both players were in the Posse line up last weekend, Carter was between the pipes versus the Columbia Valley Rockies and Josh picked up a goal and an assist versus the Golden Rockets.

“We are certainly happy with the addition of both young men.  Looking at our roster and our recent results we wanted to add more pro-like competitive mindset and increase the talent of our team.  Carter Woodside’s ability to read the game and stay composed is far above the Junior B level already and this has not gone unnoticed as he is already up with the WHL Prince George Cougars this weekend.  Josh Olson is a third-year player in our league and is set to have a breakout year in the right environment.  He is a big man and has a nose for the dirty areas, he is the kind of player that every GM is looking for and with four points in his last two games we are glad he is getting rewarded.”
